Applications of Machine Learning: Search Engines
You probably do dozens of Internet searches a day. These searches are powered by search engines.
A search engine is a tool that allows finding information using keywords, with speech recognition, or even using images. Among the most common are Google, Bing and Yahoo!
All these searches are done in seconds, and more often than not, our questions are answered directly, without even having to visit a website. This is thanks to machine learning. Search engines can now directly answer your questions, using natural language processing (NLP). NLP allows the machine to detect human language patterns and ultimately learn how to deal with spelling mistakes and still provide proper results, for example. This is also how search engines can now suggest videos and images when they are relevant.
